Arabic.

Neil in Arabic

Renée and I started taking Arabic tonight. All I have to say is holy crap is it hard. Still, it’s very cool to learn a language that doesn’t use the roman alphabet. The arabic alphabet is gorgeous - above is a photo of my name in Arabic.

Wa alaykum as-salam :-)
Congratulations on your move to pick up Arabic. I lived in Kuwait for the first 16 years of my life. Arabic was a mandatory course at school (along with Kuwait geography/history). I must say it is enlightening to learn not just the language, but the culture and history as well.

I came to your site for the Firefox builds and saw your "Asalam aleykum.." I'm an American that has discovered the local Muslim community and I have fallen in love with the people, culture, food, and especially Arabic!

Glad to see you're taking Arabic. I hope to learn more than the basics in the future, Enshallah! Salam!

Yes, best of luck to you!

A friend and I are both taking a Chinese (Mandarin) course starting next week and it's going to be challenging. Besides speaking we are also going to learn how to write simple chinese charaters.

Good luck! I've lived in the UAE for a year now, and it's hard trying to learn Arabic since it's all English at work and at home, but I try to pick up a word here and there.

And keep up the good work on your Firefox releases!

Well I'm arabian (from Kuwait) and I know our language isn't that fancy but I know how you mean when you say you want to learn another language. I tried to learn German once and I was very enthusiastic about it but then after I knew how hard and Scheiße it is, I dropped it and sticked with what I know in English.

Here's a piece of arabic poem.
Look for its meaning and I hope you like it.

Anyways, good luck! :)

This is my first participation in this site. It is my pleasure to help those who wish to learn Arabic. I know a specialized site in teaching Arabic language for non-Arabs where you can learn Arabic characters free and much more.
