From Castle Frank to Broadview

Something new - small movies of captured moments I’m dubbing lifecasts. No commentary and no egomaniacal video blogging: just quiet life scenes. As they say, “God is in the details.”

I am not a videographer, and I’m going to be fiddling with the encoding and compression formats a lot, so bear with me. If you have any tips or hints on getting the best quality vs. size ratio, and tips on compression formats, post them in the comments.

what are the current codec settings? mpeg? sorensen? H.263? compression quality? frames per second(FPS)? try using mpeg compressor at 15 fps, size it at 360×240 (DV video's 720×480). Apple's H.264 is looking pretty good, but i'd wait til they come out with quicktime7 for windows first...

codec

they way i would go is post the video in H.264, mention that as of now only mac users can view the H.264 video, and include the "Quicktime 7 Required" badge.

as a side note, link the windows users to the version they should download if they have version 6 (which would also be the version mac users with it is the new hotness.

this is what i'll be doing when i post the video for my friend's band's website.

lifecasts

loved the video. i think this is a great idea. i'll have to try this out... : )
